The Full Story

About

When Joe and Bec first met two years ago, they recognised a shared knowing—an instinctive pull to remember and honour the living systems they belong to. As bush regenerators, they found more than just meaningful work—they found community, deep connection, and a way of being that makes sense. They found others who feel it too: people who move differently in the world, who’ve walked through fire, and who’ve found solace in the soil, the trees, the wind, the ongoing pulse of life we are all part of.

Their vision with ReGen Alliance is rooted in a simple truth: humans are not separate from nature. We are nature expressing itself—breathing, growing, breaking down and blooming again, just like the forests, the fungi, the rivers, and the rocks.

But the world we’ve built often forgets this. We’re taught to dominate, extract, consume—rather than tend, listen, and move in rhythm with the cycles that shape all life. Our language and lifestyles reflect this disconnection, and many of us are left feeling adrift.

There is another way.

One that’s not about “returning” to nature, but about remembering we never left. That we are woven into the web of life, and everything we do echoes across it.

This remembering is especially urgent for our young people. We’ve seen how anxiety, depression, and despair can grow in the absence of connection—not only to each other, but to the deeper systems that give rise to wonder, meaning, and belonging. The wild world offers all of these, not as a resource, but as a mirror. Australian studies have shown that immersive experiences in the natural world can reduce suicide risk, improve mental health outcomes, and cultivate resilience in young people. Not because nature is “healing”—but because in being part of it, we are reminded of our place in something vast and alive.

This is why ReGen Alliance exists. Not to “fix” nature or “help” the environment, but to participate in the ongoing flow of regeneration. To support young people in reclaiming their place in the living world. To walk together as kin—human and more-than-human—toward a future that feels possible.

In partnership with local schools, ReGen Alliance is offering tailored environmental programs that weave directly into the school curriculum, providing students with one day a week of hands-on experience in bush regeneration. By working alongside passionate individuials, students not only learn about the land, but they also learn about themselves—building resilience, mental health, and a deep sense of belonging within the natural world.

When we care for the living systems we belong to, they care for us, too.

Mission

ReGen Alliance exists to cultivate living relationships between people and place through hands-on regeneration, youth empowerment, and community-led care.

We work alongside Landcare groups, National Parks and Wildlife Service, and grassroots organisations like community gardens to restore ecosystems, support wellbeing, and foster purpose through connection with land.

Our mission is not just to heal landscapes, but to regenerate the relationships that sustain them—between humans, culture, and Country.

Vision

We envision a world where care for land is part of everyday life, where young people are reconnected to purpose through hands-on experience, mentorship, and deep relationship with place.

Our hope is to grow ReGen Alliance into a space where students can gain nationally recognised certification in bush regeneration, and be supported into meaningful employment restoring ecosystems and communities alike.

We see a future where regeneration is a shared way of being—one that empowers the next generation to live with care, reciprocity, and belonging on Country.
